One of the greatest cultural crimes in world history. It is probably the book burning with the greatest historical effect.

Yes, absolutely. Only the destruction of the Library of Alexandria and the burning of books by the first Emperor of Qin come to mind as possible comparisons. But neither of them was connected with the genocidal domination of the culture whose books were destroyed, and consequently I don’t think those losses were as great.
